Jeep Gladiator JT on 37s: What 145 Real Builds Run

Gladiators run 37s, and many still work as trucks.

A Jeep Gladiator is long. Its 137.3" wheelbase is 18.9" more than a Wrangler Unlimited's, and the whole truck is about two and a half feet longer. Put it on 37s and that's the first thing you'll have an opinion about, and a few owners have taken a saw to it.

I cant stand the stock length JT bed, so i bobbed this one in my garage.

BobbedJTR's owner

Eight inches came out. Most owners kept theirs, though, and that's what makes this group different. There are 145 public Gladiator builds on 37s on REVKIT, and 61 of them list something for the bed: a rack, a cover, a cap, a camper. So yes, a Gladiator runs 37s, and plenty of owners want it to stay a truck when it does. The 12 builds below are split three ways, because a Gladiator has a third job: built for the look, built to carry and built to wheel.

What a Gladiator needs to run 37s

145 is a small group, so we'll give you counts. These are lists owners filled in themselves, and a part that isn't listed may still be on the truck.

  • Lift. 86 list one. 40 of those run 3.5" to 4", and 37 run 3" or less. Of the 16 at 2" or under, 14 name a Mopar kit or an AEV spacer lift. The builds below also use Clayton, TeraFlex, MetalCloak, Skyjacker, Superlift and Synergy.
  • Gears. 35 of the 145 list a ratio of 4.56 or deeper. On Gladiators on 35s, it's 3 of 74.
  • Driveshafts and axle shafts. 14 list a driveshaft and 9 list upgraded axle shafts, against 1 and 0 on 35s.
  • Trim. 93 of the 145 are listed as Rubicons, 32 as Sports and 12 as Overlands. About 11 are Mojaves, a few of them filed under other trims.
  • The truck part. Besides those 61, 24 list a rooftop tent. A hitch, towing or hauling shows up in 19 of the 145.

On lift, we'd tell you what we tell Wrangler owners: at least 2", ideally 3.5".

For the fit parts we'll switch to shares, so you can set them beside a JK or a JL. Each line is the share of the 145, then Gladiators on 35s. That 35s group is only 74 builds, so we wouldn't lean on it. The same caution applies, and a Rubicon's factory flares won't show.

  • Steering upgrades (tie rod, drag link, steering kit or box). 15%, against 4%.
  • Aftermarket fenders (not flares or inner fenders). 3%, against 0%.
  • Tire carrier. 8%, against 3%.
  • Ball joints. 3%, against 0%.
  • Bump stops. 3%, against 0%.
  • Wheel spacers. 1%, against 3%.

Every share here is lower than on a JL, and we can't tell you from a list why. Athena, further down, is one that lists hydraulic bump stops.

Will 37s rub on a Gladiator?

Yes, they can. Trimming the inner fenders is usually needed, and it's an easy job. Owners don't write about rubbing, so that's us talking, not the lists. What the lists do show is that 8% of Gladiators on 37s list aftermarket inner fenders.

Backspacing is the other fit number, and owners rarely list it here, so we won't give you a figure. Check the wheel and lift makers' numbers for your setup.

Do you need to regear for 37s?

Not to make it run, but we'd do it. A Gladiator will run 37s without a regear, but expect it to hunt for gears, and we think you'd wish you had done them.

The lists show both answers. avanti jeep has 5.13s on a 2" spacer lift, Athena calls its 4.10s stock, and Hooptie lists no ratio at all.

What the length changes

Then there's the length, and we'd rather tell you what we can back up. A Driving Line writer running 37s and a 3" lift says they still hit on mountain trails, and prefers a Wrangler's wheelbase out there. On the road, they say, you won't notice. Owners here mostly don't write about it, so look at the photos and judge the belly for yourself.

The other fix is shorter metal. Three of the 145 list a cut bed: BobbedJTR, with 8 inches gone, Hot Daniel, with 10, and Athena, with a steel bed further down this page. The rest don't list one, and for many of them the bed is earning it.

Gladiators on 37s built for the look

Every spec line gives the lift. Where a build has both, you get one photo standing and one showing the articulation.

Twenty-inch wheels, a flag mount in the bed and DS18 speakers on the list.

The short answer

Its About is the shortest good answer on this page: Mojave, Earl paint, 2" lift, 37s. The list runs to 56 lines, including Revolution 5.13s, bed panels, a receiver hitch and the factory 115-volt outlet in the bed.

A short list: lift, Fox shocks, a sway bar, a TUWA bed rack and the tires.

I always told my husband my dream vehicle was a convertible truck.

Gladiators on 37s built to carry

Here's the section a Wrangler article doesn't get. Gear in the bed shows up far more often than towing.

The tow rig

Hooptie2020 Gladiator Rubicon · 2" AEV spacer · 37" Milestar Patagonia M/T
Hooptie, a red 2020 Gladiator Rubicon on 37s, on slickrock

The owner traded a Wrangler for this so it could tow their RV. The list is short, with factory lockers and no ratio. It has also done a 14-state trip through King of the Hammers and Moab.

I have towed so much with my Gladiator it has surprised me!

The high-miler

A Sport S with 5.13s and ARB lockers, often photographed with a rooftop tent and a trailer. We can't check either claim, but it's why it's in this section.

Highest mileage Gladiatoir in the nation with over 243,000 miles so far.

The vacation truck

It has driven from Virginia to Texas, and to Michigan twice, with four dogs and all the luggage. It has a full-height rack, and the rear rides on Evo 4.5" springs.

A great off-road vehicle with utility thrown in.

The camp truck

The owner left off-road years ago and came back with a partly built Gladiator. The cap on the bed makes it a covered truck, on a Mopar 2" and 4.88s, and the second photo shows it with a camper in tow.

The hard stuff, on the long truck.

The bobbed one

The bed here is a MotoBilt steel bob with the spare on it, and that's the climb at the top of this page. The list calls the Dana 44s and 4.10s stock, and adds hydraulic bump stops and rear air bags. The second photo shows it on the trail.

She likes to crawl as often as she can.

Yukon 5.13s, an ARB front locker, an Adams 1350 front driveshaft and a TeraFlex drop spacer at the rear. There's still a hard cover on the bed, and the owner has one complaint.

My Mojave is everything I want in a Jeep… except more power

This is the far end. A 426 V8 conversion, 70" Currie Extreme 60s, Revolution 5.13s, long arms and a two-piece rear driveshaft, with a tonneau cover still on the bed.

Love this truck!!

Daily driving a Gladiator on 37s

Day to day, the bed still works. Hooptie tows an RV, Blu Ox has done Virginia to Michigan twice with four dogs, and Grumpy's owner reports over 243,000 miles.

When you're ready

Keep this page for the day you actually pull the trigger. Pick the build that does what yours does, read its list, and notice how many stopped at a lift and tires, and how many kept going.

One thing no parts list can tell you is whether a Gladiator on 37s still fits your garage.

How we picked these

With 145 builds to pick from, we looked for tires you can see, a lift on the list and a flexed photo where one existed. Counts come from part names, plus the About text for towing and hauling. The gear count starts at 4.56. Treat every list as a snapshot from when its owner wrote it.
