What is a Slip Yoke Eliminator (SYE)?

What is a Slip Yoke Eliminator? What does it do? Why do you need one? In this video we show you what happens, what problems are created, to your stock rear drive shaft when you lift your vehicle and how a slip yoke eliminator can fix those problems.

One important component found on many Jeep types, including the YJ and TJ Wranglers, is known as a slip yoke. Correspondingly, you may also hear about a slip yoke eliminator, which may be installed for several potential reasons in your Jeep. Today’s blog will go over both the slip yoke and slip yoke eliminator, plus some of the reasons why you might want or need to install a slip yoke eliminator in your Jeep.

Within many Jeeps, the slip yoke describes an internal splined shaft that’s connected to the driveshaft itself using a universal joint. The slip yoke is present to transfer power from your Jeep’s transfer case to the driveshaft, sliding in and out of the transfer case. This sliding capability allows for changing length depending on the vehicle’s movements.
